Vietnam - Cambodia defence ties promoted

PANO - Defence cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia should continue developing in line with the cooperation between the two States and the two peoples.


This was stated by Senior Lieutenant General Le Huu Duc, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defence, at the reception given to the visiting General Ouk Kosa, Deputy Director of the General Department of Policy and External Affairs and Director of the Department of Development of the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence, on August 19th in Hanoi.


Senior Lieutenant General Le Huu Duc congratulated Cambodia for its successful organizing the fifth National general election and stressed that the visit was an opportunity for the Department of Economics of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence and the Cambodian Department of Development to exchange and review cooperation results in 2013, and for the two Ministries to work out economic cooperation plans for 2014.


For his part, General Ouk Kosa of Cambodia thanked the host for a warm reception and informed him of the outcome of the exchange with the Department of Economics of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence.

high-ranking Cambodia delegation led by General Neang Phat, Secretary of State for the Cambodian Defence Ministry, is on a five-day visit to Vietnam from August 21 to boost defence cooperation with the Vietnamese side.


After an official welcome ceremony in Hanoi on August 22, the Cambodian delegation held talks with Sen. Lieut. Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, Director of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Army.


At the talks, the two sides assessed the results of the implementation of their cooperation plans in 2011 and the first six months of 2012 and discussed plans for their future cooperation.


They agreed that bilateral defence cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia has seen good results, especially in the exchange of delegations, political and ideological work, and human resource training.


Over the past time, the two armies have effectively coordinated in various fields, said Neang Phat.


Sharing views with the Cambodian guest, Lich affirmed that recent bilateral defence cooperation results were clear evidence of the friendship and solidarity between the two armies.


He suggested that the two sides coordinate in organising activities to raise people’s awareness of the importance of strengthening the ties between the two countries in general and between the two armies in particular.


The two sides should continue to step up cooperation in protecting security and order in border areas in order to build a Vietnam-Cambodia border line of peace, friendship, cooperation and development, he said.


They also agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in human resource development, the exchange of delegations and the sharing of experience in political and ideological work.


On the same day, the Cambodian delegation paid a courtesy visit to Minister of National Defence General Phung Quang Thanh.-VNA

Nhan Dan Online - A high-ranking delegation from the Cambodian Ministry of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspections (MoNASRI) led by Secretary of State Chheng Saroeun is paying a working visit to Vietnam from November 24-28.


On behalf of the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam, Deputy Inspector General Nguyen Tien Hao welcomed the Cambodian delegation at a reception in Hanoi on November 25.


Deputy Inspector General Hao expressed his delight at the neighbourly behaviour, the traditional friendship and the comprehensive and long-term sustainable co-operation between the two nations. He then highlighted the inspection sector’s effective co-operation, which has made practical contributions to strengthening the fine traditional relationship between the two countries over the past years.


For his part, Secretary of State Chheng Saroeun praised the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate’s co- operation with and assistance to their Cambodian counterparts, especially in providing training for Cambodian personnel.


Since 2003, the Vietnamese inspection sector and the MoNASRI have engaged in high-level visits with a view to sharing experience in inspection and the settlement of complaints and denunciations. From 2006- 2012, the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate organised five professional training courses for Cambodian inspectors.


During the working session, the Cambodian delegation was briefed on the functions, tasks and organisational structure of the Vietnamese Government Inspectorate and learned several solutions for improving the efficiency of handling complaints and denunciations related to land issues.

The Vietnam National Assembly will make all-out efforts to preserve and develop the traditional relations between Vietnam and Cambodia , a senior legislator said.


NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong made the commitment at her reception for a delegation from the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group (CVFPG) in Hanoi on March 17.


The CVFPG delegation, headed by its President Men Sam On, who is also Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia , is on a visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Parliamentarians Group (VCFPG).


Phong expressed her delight at the development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries as well as between the two legislative bodies, saying it brought practical benefits for both, especially in economy, trade, agriculture, industry and post and telecommunications.


She spoke highly of the role performed by the two parliamentarians groups and their operations while suggesting the two legislative bodies continue exchanges of visits as well as experiences, and work closely with each other at inter-parliamentary forums in the region and the world.


Phong thanked the Cambodian Parliament and people for their support to Vietnam , mentioning the 31 st ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Association (AIPA-31) that the Vietnam NA hosted as an example.


Men Sam On stressed that the close ties between Cambodia and Vietnam have assisted each country in its own cause of national construction and defence.


She affirmed that the CVFPG will continue to partner with VCFPG in bolstering the relations between the two countries and their legislative bodies.


The CVFPG will help support Vietnamese enterprises and the Vietnamese community in Cambodia , the Cambodian official said.


She congratulated Vietnam on its successful organisation of the 11 th National Party Congress and performance of the ASEAN Chair and AIPA-31 Chair in 2010 and expressed hope to learn from Vietnam’s experiences in the field for hosting the AIPA-32 successfully.

(VOV) – Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Truong Quang Khanh on September 23 received a visiting delegation from the Cambodian Royal Armed Forces’ Technical Equipment General Department led by its deputy head General Pech Choeun.


Khanh congratulated Cambodia on the successful fifth National Assembly election while affirming that the Vietnamese Government, Army and people always place great value on reinforcing solidarity with the neighbouring country and will do all they can to maintain their close relationship.


Choeun briefed Khanh on his country’s current politicalsituation as well as outcomes of the delegation’s working session with the Vietnamese Defence Ministry’s General Department of Technology.


Both sides shared experience and information in their work, reviewed the results of bilateral cooperation over the years and defined orientations in the time to come.


The Vietnamese defence official said it is essential to pay heed to delegation exchange and human resources training to improve operational efficiency as a contribution to consolidating the fine traditional relations between the two nations.

PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of Vietnam People’s Army, received General Mam Sam, Vice Chief of Joint Staff of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces cum Chief of Cabinet to the Chief of General Staff of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.



At the reception held at the Headquarters of the Vietnamese Defence Ministry on June 11th, General Do Ba Ty affirmed that the Vietnamese government, army and people always attach special importance to developingrelations and solidarity

with Cambodia.


Highly appreciating the results of the work between General Mam Sam and the Office of the General Staff of the VPA, General Do Ba Ty asked the two sides to effectively implement the mutually reached agreements, contributing to strengthening friendship between the peoples and armies of the two countries.


The host also asked the two offices to promote awarenessamong their staff of the significance of the traditional friendship between the two neighbouring countries.


General Mam Sam agreed with the host’s suggestions and believed that the good traditional friendship between the two countries in general and the two armies in particular would further develop in the future.

Vietnam, Cambodia vow to boost ties(24/08/2010)


(VNA) – Vietnam and Cambodia on November 4 agreed to intensify their friendship and comprehensive cooperation to lift the ties to a new height in the years to come.


Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and visiting PM Hun Sen expressed their satisfaction at the development of bilateral relations over the recent past during their talks held after a welcome ceremony in Hanoi .

PM Dung stressed the significance of the visit by the Cambodian PM, saying that the visit would help strengthen neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

The Vietnamese government leader spoke highly of his Cambodian counterpart’s contribution to cementing friendly and cooperative ties between the two sides and congratulated him on being re-elected as Cambodian Prime Minister for the fourth term.

PM Hun Sen said his visit aims to enhance friendship and comprehensive cooperation

between the two countries. He thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their assistance to Cambodia in the past as well as during the current national construction and development. The two PMs agreed to promote the exchange of visits by delegations at all levels to increase mutual understanding and give priorities to cooperation in human resources development, trade and investment, energy, mining, oil and gas, industrial crops and transport.

The two sides were unanimous in creating favourable conditions for trade and service activities in order to raise two-way trade to more than 2 billion USD by 2010, and encouraging cooperation between localities. They also agreed to continue their close cooperation in security and defence, as well as the fight against terrorism, transnational crimes, smuggling, and drug and human trafficking. The two sides reaffirmed their principle of preventing all hostile forces from using the territory of either country to do harm to the other and undermining the Vietnam- Cambodia friendly and cooperative ties. The two PMs highly valued the achievements made in the planting of border markers and affirmed their determination to accelerate the work in the principle of strictly observing the 1985 treaty on land border demarcation and the 2005 supplementary treaty. They were resolved to complete the historical work in the first six months of 2012. During the talks, the two PMs also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern and agreed to further their cooperation at international and regional forums. Following the talks, the two PMs witnessed the signing of five agreements, including the ones on visa exemption for ordinary passport holders, transit of goods and railway cooperation. Other cooperation agreements were reached between the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications and the Cambodian Information Ministry and between the Radio Voice of Vietnam and the Cambodian National Radio.

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of Vietnam People□s Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan made the remarks while receiving the visiting Commander of Cambodian Royal Air Defence Force, General Un Navi on July 25 in Hanoi .


Tuan expressed his delight at the effective cooperation in defence between the two countries, which significantly contributes to tightening the friendship between both countries and armies.


Un Navi briefed his host about the working results between his delegation and the Command of the Vietnam Air Defence-Air Force, adding that the visit is a great chance for the two air defence forces to exchange experience in their work./.
