Third Meeting of China-Cambodia lntergovernmental Coordination Committee Held in Beijing
On February 4, 2016, the third meeting of China-Cambodia lntergovernmental Coordination Committee was held in Beijing. State Councilor Yang Jiechi and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Namhong of Cambodia co-chaired the meeting. Bath sides agreed to conscientiously implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the Iwo countries, promote bilateral cooperation in various fields according to the plans determined al this meeting, and push China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for continuous progress.
Yang Jiechi noted that in the pas! year China-Cambodia relations achieved substantial progress, with frequent high-level contacts, deepened economic and
!rade cooperation, thriving people-ta-people and cultural exchanges and close multilateral coordination. Departments concerned in bath governments worked closely and earnestly implemented the consensus reached by the leaders of the Iwo countries and the plans determined al the second meeting of the Committee, and bilateral cooperation in various fields yielded fruilful achievements, enriching the connotations of China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic partnership and bringing tangible benefits to the Iwo peoples.
Yang Jiechi pointed out that China attaches great importance to ils relations with Cambodia, and will firmly support Cambodia to maintain stability and accelerate development and unswervingly deepen China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic cooperation. At present, bath China and Cambodia are facing the tasks of implementing respective development strategies and achieving stable development, sharing more extensive common interests and broader prospects for cooperation. China stands ready to work with Cambodia to formulate concrete measures to deepen cooperation in various fields in the new year and push bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperation towards a more profound depth, a wider scope and a higher level.
Hor Namhong expressed that China is the best friend of Cambodia and the Iwo countries enjoy profound traditional friendship. ln recent years, Cambodia and China have gained fruitful achievements in practical cooperation in various fields. Cambodia appreciates China's long-term and generous support to ils economic and social development, will unswervingly consolidate and deepen Cambodia-China friendship and stick to the one-China policy, and is willing to strengthen coordination in planning through mechanism of the Committee to effectively promote bilateral cooperation in all fields as well as push Cambodia China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new height.
The Iwo sides made plans and deployment and reached broad consensus on cooperation in all fields al the next stage. The Iwo countries will continue to maintain high-level exchanges, further strengthen strategic communication, provide mutual support on issues concerning each other's core and major interests, and reinforce coordination and cooperation in international and regional issues. China and Cambodia will strengthen economic and !rade cooperation, promote common development, and implement cooperative projects in fields including economy, !rade and investment, infrastructure, agriculture and water conservancy. The Iwo countries will enlarge people-ta-people and cultural exchanges, consolidate the foundation of public opinions, improve cooperation in fields such as education, culture, public health and tourism, and expand media and think tank exchanges. The Iwo sides will also deepen security cooperation to realize common stability and drive the building of defense and law-enforcement capabilities for greater progress.
Representatives of ministries and commissions and the member units from the Iwo sides attended the meeting.
